We keep our student base small as we are a serious school for serious  students only. This helps with the quality of training as students questions can be quickly answered and it provides for a safer environment for training. We are conveniently located in Schaumburg, Illinois off Tower Road near the IKEA store.  Only 15 minutes north west of O’Hare International Airport and less than 45 minutes north from down town Chicago.  People who train with us have one thing in common, “They want to learn to protect themselves.”   Most of them have Martial Arts back grounds, most have black belts in the style they practiced, but they all came to the realization that the skills they were being taught or were taught would not actually help them in a real life and death situation. They care less about the latest and greatest flying ninja kicks or the latest choke hold or arm bar.  They know that most self defense courses that are offered today are a joke and that what they teach is useless against someone who actually wants to hurt or kill them.  The first time they visit us, they realize right away that we are different and unique in both what and how we teach.  WHY DID WE START OUR COMPANY? We started this training business because of the lack of real world combatives training in todays training community. Most of what is being taught out there is pure fantasy; techniques that look great in a gym environment when your attacker is compliant and submissive, but useless on the streets when attackers resist, where they actually want to hurt or kill you and pain simply has no effect because of drugs or mental illness. We teach to avoid confrontations through awareness,  escape and keep distance if possible, but should personal space be circumvented and serious bodily harm is imminent, we teach what must be done to stop the attack and go home to our families. Criminals do not fight by rules so why should you?  On the streets there are no rules, no referees, no cages to keep out the crowds, no doctor waiting in your corner to mend your injuries, there are always weapons and you can't quit by tapping out or walking away. On the streets, criminals are going to try to seriously hurt you, or worse, THEY ARE GOING TO TRY TO KILL YOU.  Attempting to simply submit someone who is trying to kill you gives that person time to access a weapon and it also allows their friends time to close in and attack you too. GRAPPLING.  Our idea of grappling is simple: GET OFF THE GROUND! ‘You have about five seconds to fight like hell so you can get on your feet before the attackers buddies comes over and KILLS YOU!’.  Because over 90 percent of fights end up on the ground and a lot of people are studying or have studied grappling and wrestling, we teach grappling and submissions for two reasons. 1.  Being able to escape certain positions and control and damage your attacker is critical when you are fighting for your life. Though we encourage fighting to get off the ground within 4-5 seconds, we also teach how to tie up, control and break down your attacker in short time.   2.  So we will be able to effectively react to our attacker. Many people have experience in both wrestling and grappling and knowing what technique they are attempting to use allows us the ability to react and deny them what they want. Knowing allows us to avoid certain positions and attacks and how to use them to our advantage so we can lock up and BREAK our attacker, not simply submit and make him tap out.  STRIKING.  Our striking is unique as we target vital parts of the body like the eyes, throat, groin, knees and ankles. We teach that strikes can be used to damage an attacker but they can also be used as a distraction that can lead to a better position so we can break things on our attacker.  Remember, you are on the streets. There is a good chance that your attacker is either under the influence of alcohol, drugs or has a mental illness.  Punches and kicks may have little effect on him, but if you strike his groin you can escape and if you break his knee he can’t run after you.   Punching someone is a very good way of breaking or severely injuring your hand or wrist. If you carry an edged weapon or a firearm for protection, like most of our students do, you can’t afford to get a busted hand in a fight. We teach to protect our hands at all costs as they are essential in the use of personal weapons. Face it, if severe bodily harm or death is eminent, gouging your thumb deep inside someones eye socket searching for their optical nerve, shattering their ankle with a heel stomp, snapping their wrist and/or elbow with an arm bar/lock or simply throwing someone on the ground and stomping on them until they stop fighting you will cause more damage in less time and will have more effect on their will to keep fighting than simply hitting him. How do we do this?   ‘Through hard, intense, reality based training!’ We aim at building the student’s confidence and proficiencies through intense, reality based as well as environmentally based training. Students learn that their bodies and minds are their primary weapons and that knifes, firearms and improvised weapons are only supportive tools that can give them an advantage but only if they know how to use them effectively. We teach that a warrior mindset is essential to our survival and that we must keep fighting, even when injured. We attempt to ingrain this mindset in every aspect of our training. We train in the dark, on the ground, in corners and in extreme close quarters like bathroom stalls and between parked vehicles. We also train with simulate injuries, bright strobe lights and with loud music blaring and under just about about every condition we can think of to help simulate real world conditions which helps students with focus as well as for Stress Inoculation.         We teach our students to be aggressive should they have to be and not to be afraid of being hit and that it is essential to keep fighting even though you are injured or exhausted. To help with this conditioning, we spar often with boxing and fingerless gloves as well as with military pugil sticks.  We want students to understand that fighting on an open mat with no obstacles scattered around requires a simple set of skills. But it’s much different when you have to; -  Fight on the ground where there are rocks, sand, broken glass and trash. -  Fight in extreme close quarters with concrete walls, tables, chairs and vehicles. -  Fight in the dark, in the snow or in the rain. -  Fight with a twisted ankle, broken hand or other severe injury. _____________________________ Ron Lauinger Owner and Chief instructor - United States Marine Corps - Marine Corps Marksmanship Instructor - Four Years full contact Karate - No Lie Blades ( NLB ) Level 2 Instructor : Training Law Enforcement, HRT, SRT, SWAT, Military and special units within our military.  NLB is a GSA vendor. - Graduate of over 20 Tactical Firearm courses - Over 23 years: Defensive/Combat Shooting Experience.   (Pistol, Rifle, Shotgun, Submachine Gun) - Six years in Koei Kan Karate and ten years in Aikido which resulted in Dans in both.  - 4 solid years of Kali Silat and Escrima. - Over 15 years teaching knife, stick and hand to hand combatives.
